Avoid These Making Up Traps

There are so many painful emotions swirling around your head, after a break up. Each of those swirling emotions brings its own questions. Questions like “What Shall I do to get my ex back” and “How do I get over a broken heart”, among others, can easily bubble around your head.

With so much stuff mixing up, inside your head, it’s easy to lose perspective. So, here are some things to steer you in the right direction. Make sure you don’t fall into any of these making up traps.

Don’t Be Preoccupied

It’s easy to let all those swirling thoughts and emotions take over, and they will, if you let things go unchecked. Try to keep a sense of perspective about things. It hurts, but you will be putting steps in place to get over your broken heart. Focus on the positive things you can do, as much as possible.

If you spend too much time being wrapped up in your own world of pain, you’ll start to alienate other people in your life too. Your friends and family will be happy to support you, but people who become too preoccupied risk the future of that support. Make time for their needs too.

Don’t Play Games

Whatever you do, don’t play games with your ex’s emotions. Remember, they’re likely to be going through the same process as you and it’s painful. So, they may be quite easy to manipulate, but any gain you get out of this will be short lived. It’s certainly not a good basis on which to restart a new relationship.

Avoid any actions which you know won’t benefit your relationship, such as pretending to have a new relationship. Eventually the bad feeling of tricking someone will catch up with you, whether or not you get back together. Of course, if your ex finds out you’ve been lying, it’s almost definitely over!

Don’t Be Mean

While this would apply at any time, it’s especially important in the aftermath of a break up. If you let your irrational emotional state affect your behavior it’s going to leave a particularly bitter taste in your ex’s mouth.

If you can’t control your emotions yet, it’s definitely too early to be considering a reunion. Even if you’re hurt you need to be able to discuss it, reasonably, with your ex. Be prepared to forgive and offer forgiveness with equal grace. If you can’t do that right now, either wait until you can, or move on.

Don’t Forget There’s Help

There are lots of forms of help out there, if you’re struggling with a break up. Put foolish pride aside, if you look there’s suitable help for anyone, that can focus on you feel, as well as what can be done to put things right. You’ll be surprised how much support you can get, if you know where to look.
